During the Progressive Era organized sports for kids were seen as a means of democratization and assimilation … for white immigrants. Organized play and playgrounds were rarely offered to Black youth. So sports have historically been used to divide, as they are being used now.

To emphasize a point Snitty makes in her thread: Excluding trans kids from sports is about cutting them out of public life. The lies people pushed about "fairness" were a thin cover for anti-trans bigotry. For most athletes sports are about socialization. They're taking that away from trans kids.

The great-grandson of Wong Kim Ark, whose 1898 case established birthright citizenship, reacts to today's SCOTUS decision:

"He was one man, only a cook, and yet he stood up for what was right... Today's ruling shows that his victory remains as important now as it was in 1898."

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

    Equals 10 nuclear reactors
    Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

    Why aren't we doing this?
